Sketch #13

Another landscape! The grassy knoll in the foreground seems out of place; the perspective doesn't work, I don't think.

Sketch #12

Monocle-Man-But-With-Bird-Wings-And-Also-A-Reptile-Tail is luckier than his friend Bird-That-Is-Being-Shot-At-By-A-Very-Short-Plane. This is because Bird-That-Is-Being-Shot-At-By-A-Very-Short-Plane is being shot at by A-Very-Short-Plane.

Sketch #11

I drew these anti-clockwise, starting with the car. The Parrot Man was intended as Perrin Aybara from the Wheel of Time (which only a couple of other people I know actually have read.) where the parrot should be a falcon. He can talk to wolves, which is why I next drew one. Not entirely sure why I connect it to the vehicle to make... CarWolf!

Sketch #10

The first elf is meant to be Dobby (I was going through the Harry Potter books for the zillionth time at the time) but just does not work, thus the "ew". The second elf is also intended to be Dobby, but once again, falls short. Even if it does land closer to the mark, though this might be due to the tower of tea cosy hats. The notation once again will confirm my opinion on the sketch. Sciencelf, on the other hand, works quite well. Originally destined to be a third Dobby, my despondency with the first two attempts, when paired with the scribbling of a lab coat, mug, clip board, glasses and little elven-eyelashes, gave rise to the glory of Sciencelf. The Archway is some kind of Minecraft Archway.

Sketch #09

Three bearded men, except that one had a shave. See if you can guess which one!

Sketch #08

More Johnny Bravo, a Cool Mustache Dude, Cat Paw, Long Neck Man connected to Hoodie Emo, the back half of a cat, some guy with a transparent hoodie and Curly Haired, Big Eyes and Nose Guy.

I don't like this Johnny Bravo either, though I do like the way his hood sits.
That mustache looks like it'd be comfortable on the set of a Western.
That Paw, I have no idea.
Long Neck Man's impressive eyebrows are impressive but don't ask about the Long Neck.
The Hoodie Emo was some guy who came through work; he was slouching so despondently that his fringe hung foward from his Hood of Solitude and swung in time to his Shuffle of Despair.
Maybe this decapitated cat is the owner of the Paw?
The transparent hoodie is some research into the physics of Hoodie Emo's depression.
Curly Haired, Big Eyes and Nose Guy, I dunno, maybe he's ignoring the insanity occuring above him.

Sketch #07

A Crusty Hat Wearer, then trying to draw Johnny Bravo (TV character) from memory. He turned out OK, though the semi-submerged one seems to have more style. (It was just to cover up the mouth I didn't like the look of.) The body of number two is odd.

Sketch #06

The theme of the first half of this sketch book is drawing people, so there will be many more characters coming. I tried to make The Blind Guy have an ambiguous orientation. Is he looking forward, or backward? I suppose it doesn't matter: he's blind. Also his friends Pocket Man and Priesty.

Sketch #05

This is one of my favourites. The Floating Dude, The River, Houses and the Giant Diglett etc. The Diglett was helpfully and surreally added by my work-mate Tom. I like landscapes in general; there are a couple more later on.

Sketch #04

I practiced hands a lot last year, drawing on what ever paper I had lying around, so this was a little revision. And the back of a head.

Sketch #03

I like those Cat Dudes, they cool. The bottom right guy is my friend Chris.

Sketch #02

A listening man, a zombie and some attempts at realistic(ish) people. I don't really like that girl I drew.

Sketch #01

Practicing to draw females better, though apparently Crying Mohawk Girl is a giant. And Confused Girl just became a bendy cartoon.

This is a bloj!

This is a bloj. Like a blog, but you say it differently. It can also be a blog. I will upload scans of my sketchbook which, as the title of this whole thing suggests, I sketch in while at work. On my lunch break.
